THE WADEYE SCHOOL PROJECT

The Wadeye School is located about 190 kilometers southwest of Addis Ababa in the village of Wadeye, Ejha Woreda, Gurage Zone, Ethiopia. Total current enrollment in the school is 370 of which about 53% are female students. About 80% of the girls drop out before they reach high school.  When the secondary school is completed, enrollment is projected to reach 1,000 students. IE is working to transform Wadeye School into a center of excellence for primary and secondary school education that will be replicated in other regional schools.

Phase I: Construction of a new primary school building has already been completed.

Phase II:  Construction of the secondary school building is in progress.

Phase III:  Planning to build a library, science laboratory, IT center, auditorium and administration offices.
